Australia Investor & Business Visas: 2026 Options

Quick answer: Australia's Business Innovation and Investment Program (subclasses 188 and 888) closed to new applications in July 2024. Entrepreneurs and investors now look at the National Innovation visa (subclass 858) for exceptional talent, employer-sponsored routes, or other countries' investor programs. Existing 188 holders can still progress to 888 if they meet requirements.

What happened to the Australian investor visa?

The subclass 188 Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa had Business Innovation, Investor, Significant Investor and Entrepreneur streams, leading to the permanent subclass 888 visa. Following the Migration Strategy review, the government stopped new invitations and closed the program to new applicants in July.
